This warehouse is particularly suitable for housing heavy items with large dimensions which are stored in special containers with a capacity of up to 1,000 kg arranged two-deep on “drive-in” shelving. The loading/unloading activity is carried out via the use of two “bays” especially equipped with a “shape checking device”. The operator in charge of the warehouse has the use of a computer onto which the loading and unloading lists are “imported” from the central computer system. The “VELOX” transporting-elevator robot extracts the containers to be loaded/unloaded from the warehouse, and transports them into one of the two “bays” where the operator physically carries out his activity.
